MORE NEWS FROM SOUTH AFRICA

Dear family and friends,

I am just taking this opportunity to write a prayer request.

As you all know I have been working with the Moriel KwaZulu Mission for 2 years now. We have been living at the mission station for 1 and a half years and our current lease is due
to expire at the end of this year.
Now upon taking the new lease to the chairman of the local farmer's association
(our landlords) we were told to hold on to it as there are a couple of farmers in the local community who want us off the land in order to buy it themselves. If they get their
way then the mission would have to relocate and what would happen with that is uncertain but we would just ask you that you would just ask God, through Jesus and by His spirit to influence the farmers in some way or other to
bring about His will in this situation.

Thank you for all of you who keep praying for us and who keep this work in your hearts.

God bless

Salvi.

?Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face
continually.? (1 Chr 16: 11)

Caleb, Sophie & Malachi: Have just celebrated their 6th
wedding anniversary. Regarding the mission, Caleb's vision
is to support local, sound Pastors in the work that they
are already doing with the people. He runs a bible study
with them at the local TB hospital.

News: It is hard to summerize the events that have taken
place over the last two months since the last Newsletter.
It seems to have been a whirlwind of a time. As we wait on
the progress of the farmer's association concerning our
lease and for direction concerning our own personal
journies a million things have happened that somehow elude
my memory until some outside stimulus jogs my memory. But
there are certain items of news that are on my mind that I
can write down, so I ask you as readers to appreciate that
I can in no possible way give you a clear picture of what
life is like here in the day to day running of things and
that I seriously lack in my ability to conjure up a
complete and realistic picture. My first bit of news is
that this year will be my last full year at the mission. I
should be going back to the UK early next year and enter
some form of employment. At the moment I am just trying to
obtain my South African temporary residence permit to allow
me to stay till that time. This however will leave Caleb
and Sophie to run the mission in KwaZulu on their own but
there are positive signs in terms of the direction of
Caleb's work in terms of supporting a number of sound,
local pastors and teaching the small number of believers we
have here. There have been encouraging signs from a couple
of local believers. Phumulani is still diligently sharing
the gospel and visits Kraals on his days off from work. I
have been ytold by one of his colleagues that he holds
lunch time devotions at work, which he didn't even tell me
about. In addition to this Caleb has taken over from me in
going through bible college material and it seems that
Phumulani is enjoying the sessions. His sister Celani is a
fervent and steadfast believer who is counting the cost of
standing strong for Jesus. Simon Khumalo, our interpreter,
has shown positive signs of coming nearer to deciding to
follow Jesus. He had a conversation recently with Caleb
stating the same thing, which is something Simon hasn't
said before. Please pray for him as a decision from him
wouldn't be a light thing but will count. In terms of the
local community, there have continued to be a lot of deaths
and with people enslaved by occult practices the situation
doesn't get any better. It is difficult to express the
reality of the matter because even though people are not
emotionally numb to the fact of death, for these people,
death is just a part of weekly life.

Evangelism: Up to date my schools work consists of 3
morning devotions a week at a local primary school and one
afternoon class session at a high school. At the primary
school I am just going through the gospel of John a few
verses at a time trying to use illustrations that they can
grasp. In the high school we are just tackling a play about
the Golden Calf written by my friend, Antony Royle, who is
Dave Royle's son. This gives opportunities for discussion.
With the Tygerskloof bible study I am going through the
gospel of John, which is good for them as this study is a
church away from home as they come from other parts of
South Africa. The church service has it regular faithful
few and a few people always seem to come occassionally.
There is also a bible study which is conducted where
everybody has the opportunity to contribute and ask
questions. One sunday we look at the New Testament
chronologically and in the bible study we are going through
the Old Testament chronologically. It is not that we are
against topical study but we want to emphasize systemmatic
study of the bible. In terms of Kraal visiting, I have
highlighted 3 that are most open to the Gospel and I visit
them every week. There is a nice relaxed atmosphere about
it and they usually want to listen to the bible and even
ask questions, or voice their own opinion about what is
said.

Other things: Next month we are looking forward to having
Sophie's friend from the UK helping out as well as a return
visit from Wendy Thome who stayed with myself and Joe last
month. Wendy's church in Johannesburg has started to get
quite supportive of what we are doing and have been
donating resources to us as well as to the mission activity
in Gauteng. In fact we have just had a couple of gentlemen
from that church come with a lorry of stuff such as beds
and clothes. They were called Alex and Anthony and they
were a funny couple of guys who had a good testimony to
share.

PRAYER REQUESTS

· For Phumulani, Celani and Jostina in their discipleship.
· For our translator Simon to get saved.
· For our relationships as a team to grow in real love and
discernment so that people would see Christ in us as we run
the mission.
